Fall and Firsts

This last weekend really felt like fall in Hollywood. Whether or not that perfect weather will stay is yet to be determined, but we will enjoy it while it lasts. We went with Holly, Chris, and Whitney to a local pumpkin patch to get in the autumn spirit. It was fun to see all the different kinds of pumpkins, and a little astounding when we saw how much the pumpkins were selling for.
We do live in LA so everything is overpriced but come on! I think $75 is a little steep no matter how big or amazing the pumpkin looks.
I also had a few first time cooking experiences. I finally made a pot roast for Sunday dinner. I also made a cherry pie- my first pie ever. Sad, but true. I can't say it was all that impressive though since I used canned fruit filling and a mix for the crust. Not to mention that the very outer edge baked a little faster than the rest. Next time I'll know what I'm doing a little better, but you gotta start somewhere right?

$75.00? For a pumpkin? That's as much as a Christmas tree! (Which I wouldn't pay either.) I love the picture of you guys by the pumpkins. And your pie looks great! Maybe you should make a pie at Thanksgiving. Jim loves pie!

The icon on my blog came from protectmarriage.com. There is a link at the bottom on the right side that says resources for churches and supporters. Click on that and scroll down a ways and you will find the buttons. I just tried to click on them and they weren't working, so maybe I can email you the html code. Do you think that will work? I guess we will see!

Or you could copy the picture to your computer and then add it to your blog as a picture? Just another idea.

75$ is a bit steep. Better to look at than own. And I agree that your pie looks great, especially for your first time. I've tried making pie before but I've never got that fancy with decorating the crust. We are actually hoping to have one of the more experienced sisters in the ward teach us about pie making for enrichment next month. I will let you know if I learn any good techniques.

It's a lovely pie! Yes, you have to start somewhere. $75 for a pumpkin is outrageous! LA is so overpriced. It's funny, all or our insurances dropped in price by half when we moved. I've been meaning to post other comments on your previous posts about quirks. I share one with each of you - leaving cupboard doors open and cleaning my feet before getting into bed if they're dirty. We love keeping up with you guys on your blog!

Is that the leftover cherry pie filling from the family camping trip? I'm glad to see you made something tasty from it. You can put tin foil around the edges of the pie to keep the crust from getting too brown. I think you've found a new way to earn some extra cash. Grow pumpkins and sell them on the street corner!
