I was lucky to have two days of birthday celebration this year. Jay had to work on my birthday (Saturday) and we had a ward Thanksgiving dinner that night, but Jay did have Friday off from work so I told him that we'd play that day instead.
And play we did. Downtown in Pershing Square at the ice rink. And we were the only ones there. Jack LOVED it, we LOVED it. It was wonderful!
After Jack's nap, we headed to Burbank's holiday festival kickoff. I was sad that they didn't close the street down like last year. Jack loved the truck and carolers and "snow" last year, so it was disappointing to not have any of that. It was a little crowded, but we still had a great time.
On Saturday, I was spoiled by friends Jane and Seth. While Jack and Ryan slept, Seth monitored them and played with them when they woke up while Jane took me to lunch, frozen yogurt, and a much needed mani-pedi. It was so wonderful! It really made my day. I would've had a sad birthday since Jay wasn't with me, but Jane and Seth knew just what to do to make me feel special (even though I still missed Jay).
That night we headed to our ward dinner where Jane and I sang a duet during the little musical program. As I was about to sit down, the guy who put together the program announced it was my birthday, played "Happy Birthday", and had brought a birthday cake.
I was totally surprised. It was really sweet (in so many ways). It was a great birthday celebrated with great friends!
