May Recap

What? It's been a month since I blogged? I guess I better play catch up:

May 1 was Jay's birthday. The day before, we went south to San Pedro to visit the Battleship USS Iowa. We were all excited and it was pretty deserted except some policemen touring it, which Jack loved. Claire did great and we had a great day, even thought it was a little chilly. On Jay's birthday Jack had another eye doctor appointment and then we just enjoyed being together.

Jack got a stronger prescription for his glasses. His left eye was still crossing when he was looking at things up close, and the ophthalmologist said that his brain wasn't using that eye when it was crossing, and that if it continued, he'd probably need surgery. So we opted for the full strength prescription in hopes that he will start using that left eye all the time. We had to wait three weeks for his new glasses to be ready so I was getting a little antsy. But we have them and he loves his Captain America glasses. :) (And he's obsessed with Iron Man)

Jay's Grandma Godfrey turned 90 on May 20th and her kids made a big collage of all the family pictures of her kids and grandkids, so we attempted to get a family photo- which took us over an hour at home. Ha!

Jay's parents came to visit us over Memorial Day weekend and we had such a great time! (not to mention how nice it was to have a car for a few days so we could actually do things!) Friday we went to the California Science Center to see the Endeavour Shuttle.

Jack also got to play in the discovery areas, and I realized that even though we've been there about 8 times, there is still so much we haven't explored yet. He loved the aquarium and the jellyfish. Claire did really well and took a little nap in the Baby Bjorn and was happy the whole time.

Claire turned 6 months old on Saturday the 25th. She can roll both directions very easily and is started to move around a bit. She thinks Jack is the funniest thing ever and he got her laughing really good the other day. I'll post the video in the next post because it's adorable! She also loves to use her feet to hold her toys. I call her my monkey baby since she switches items from her hands to her feet effortlessly. She also will pick things up off the floor with her feet if they are next to them. Seriously so cute!

Monday we had a full day.  We hiked Eaton Falls in Pasadena (and about a thousand other people had the same thought). Luckily it's a short hike, but we didn't play in the water, and had a hard time even getting to the water because of all the people. But it was nice to get outside and see the pretty waterfall.

Then we headed to the Vincent Lugo Park in San Gabriel that had awesome cement sea creatures with slides and sand. Jack loved it and played there for at least two hours, and got nice and sweaty as you can tell from this picture. Check out my handsome boys (and those super red cheeks!)

After an hour rest at home, we headed South to San Pedro to check out the Battleship Iowa. We didn't tour it but just walked around the outside of it, but it's still so awesome! Then we went to another park called White Point Park, which sits on a cliff above the ocean. It has gorgeous desert landscaping and a little playground. And an amazing view! You can see Catalina Island and all the big cargo ships coming into the port and the beautiful water...it's heaven, and my favorite park.

We also had to stop for Slurpees twice that day since they were $.49. Jack was ecstatic! And Jay wasn't too unhappy about it either. I would say it was the best Memorial Day we've had in a while!
