Jack's birthday is exactly two weeks after Christmas, and I stress
about giving him just the right amount of presents- not too many since
he just got new things for Christmas, but enough to help him look
forward to his birthday and get some fun things. Man, birthdays around
the holidays are not the best (sorry kids!).
I had wanted to spend the whole day just playing and doing everything Jack wanted. However, that's not what happened. Jack and I planned on going to Wendy's to get lunch and then the park, but then he decided that instead of the big present we got him (an Imaginext Toy Story Pizza Planet playset- which I was already wondering if he'd really like) he wanted the same marble set that Whitney and Natalie got for Christmas. We had played with it a few times since Christmas so I knew he'd really like it. I explained to him that we already had pizza planet for him but if he wanted marbles we'd have to go buy it. He still wanted the marbles.
So I checked the Toys R Us website to make sure it was in stock at the store by us and we headed to Wendy's. We skipped the park all together because he was so excited about the marbles. The store that said it had it didn't, so an hour and a half after looking we were headed to another store, and after a nail-biting wait while they looked for it (although the store I had just left had told me this other store would have it on hold for us and they didn't) we finally got it. Three hours after we went to the store, we finally were home and could enjoy it. Lucky for me, Jack was so excited that he did awesome the whole time. I was really impressed. If I had spent my birthday looking for my present and driving in traffic, I would not have been a happy camper.
After Jay got home and we ate dinner, we skyped with Jay's parents and sang happy birthday to Jack.
He wanted carrot cake, but then only ate the ice cream. Silly guy!

I
don't know if it's his glasses or because he's an older brother, but he
seems so mature to me (at times). I love this kid to pieces!!
