Ringing in Christmas

On December 1, we went to Burbank for their big Christmas tree lighting ceremony and festivities. They had the street blocked off and had street performers, choirs, bands, jugglers, a DJ, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. We really love Burbank, and they had these new awesome snow fall lights hanging from the trees and it almost looked like it was snowing. Jack loves music and started clapping and yelling when the bands were playing.
Then on Saturday, December 4 we walked down the street to our local library where they had the Los Feliz tree lighting ceremony and businesses were handing out goodies and treats. We went two years ago and were sorely disappointed with the tree so this year we made an effort to miss it by heading down an hour after they said they would light the tree. As we were a block away from the library we heard the group of people around the tree counting down to the lighting. We were right by Caldwell Banker as they lit the tree which just happened to be where Santa was headed right after the ceremony, so we got in line to get a picture of Santa and Jack. Good thing we didn't try to get to the tree lighting on time.
After our picture we sauntered around the neighborhood and got some pizza and hot chocolate one of the Italian restaurants were handing out. We put the hot chocolate in the cup holders on the stroller and proceeded to cross the very bumpy street. Two cups of super hot chocolate + a very bumpy road + traffic= the big hot chocolate fiasco of 2010 and a ruined Santa picture. We spilled hot chocolate all over the stroller, in both cup holders, in the bottom basket of the stroller and everything in it. When we got home I proceeded to try and wipe the card and picture with Santa off and ruined it even more. So sad! But even with the hot chocolate mess, we had fun walking around our neighborhood getting smores and pizza and taking in the feeling of Christmas. We love this time of year!

On a separate note, we put Jack down for a nap and left him alone for an hour hoping he'd fall asleep (he'd been up for four hours already), and we found this...
Needless to say, he did not end up taking a nap this afternoon. He was just too busy playing with his clothes!
