Yesterday we celebrated Jay's 32nd birthday. In the morning, we went to the Western Museum of Flight in Torrance. There they have some old WWII planes on display, and most of the employees are old military men who have lots of war stories. We had a great time looking at the cool planes and hearing stories from the employees.

Later in the day we headed to dinner while Holly and Chris babysat Jack. I was kind of nervous about the timing of dinner because we had planned a surprise birthday party for Jay and right before we left for dinner Jay mentioned he wanted to go to Pasadena to eat, which is about 20 minutes away. I was trying so hard not to tip Jay off about the party because I'm usually so bad with surprising him and end up telling him instead so I really wanted him to be surprised. I called Holly right after dinner and even though she told me Jack was doing great, I told Jay that he was freaking out and that we needed to get home. At least Jay was super surprised by the party. The funny thing is even after he saw everyone there and knew it was a party, he was still looking for Jack because he thought he had been acting up.
We decided to celebrate Jay's birthday with a shark theme to celebrate his love of sharks. Holly and I made cupcakes the day before- decorated with sharks, life preservers, and fish. Holly did most of the work decorating the sharks and they looked great. Thanks Holly for your hard work!
Jane made an awesome shark towel for Jay, which he loved.
Jay also got a potato gun from our neighbor Adam, and I gave him a remote control boat to drive around the pool, which has been really fun.
We had popcorn shrimp, salmon dip, strawberry spinach salad, and a tropical fruit salad as appetizers. Too bad Jay was so full from dinner that he didn't enjoy any of the food! That'll teach me next time to just pretend that I'm sick so we don't go out to eat before hand! It was a great night and we were so glad to be able to celebrate Jay's birthday with great friends.
We love you, Jay!

We're so sad we couldn't be at the sharkfest birthday party. It looks like it was a blast! I'm glad it all came together well.
How cute that Jay still thought Jack was freaking out. What a dad!
