We haven't been doing too much lately. Last weekend we babysat Whitney overnight (or as we affectionately call her "The Wunderkind" since her dad served his mission in Germany) while Chris and Holly went out of town to celebrate their 6th anniversary. We had a good time even though the main activity we had planned to do with Whitney was unsuccessful. She is very afraid of people dressed up as animals or dressed in scary costumes or dressed as Santa, and apparently she's also scared of statues. We were going to ride the trolley at the outdoor mall by our apartment, but there's a huge gold statue in the middle of the courtyard and as soon as she saw it, she froze right in her tracks and wouldn't move. Jay had to pick her up, and take her across the street to the indoor mall to wait for the trolley to come back from its break, but the whole time we were in the mall she kept asking about the statue and if we could see it and where it was. I explained to her that if we rode the trolley, we would pass the statue, and gave her the option of riding the trolley or going home. She chose to go home.
We took her to church the next day and she was great the whole time, and even came running up to me after primary to show me the pictures she drew. It was too cute! Happy Anniversary, Holly and Chris!
Yesterday we had a rehearsal for our rock concert. Oh, did I mention that Jay and I are part of a choir for a rock concert? The lead singer of the Kinks, Ray Davies, is coming to LA for a concert and we get to sing with him in San Francisco and here in Los Angeles in November. (The Kinks were the band who originally wrote and performed "You Really Got Me", in case you didn't know- we didn't) It's kind of a crazy story, but we're excited to be able to do this together before the baby comes. How many couples get to sing in a rock concert together?
After rehearsal, we headed to Universal Studios for a rally our friend Jarom organized. He wrote a sequel to E.T. and is trying to get some publicity for it so Steven Spielberg will read his script. We surrounded the four corners of Lankershim Blvd by Universal Studios in red hoodies in hopes of getting some attention. We actually had a lot of people ask if there was another E.T. coming out, so that was a good sign. You can check out his blog at thereturn2.com. Good Luck, Jarom!
And as always, the belly is getting bigger, but I'm still feeling good. We have another ultrasound on Tuesday and it will be nice to see the baby again. I'm hoping he looks less like an alien this time. It's weird to think that we only have a few more months left before he gets here. It's gone by so fast! But we're getting more excited every day!
