Jay and I were so lucky to be able to spend Thanksgiving with family. My mom flew out from Utah and stayed with us Wednesday night. On Thanksgiving morning we drove to Shannan and Jim's house by Palm Springs and stayed until Sunday night. My grandma came out from New Mexico for Thanksgiving and to see my oldest niece, Kaitlyn, be baptized on Sunday. We had a great time talking, eating, napping, and shopping. Actually almost all day Friday was spent at Target or the mall trying to get the best Black Friday deals we could find. I think we found a few too many. Saturday we went to the Living Desert, which is a little zoo out in the desert. It was really fun, although we didn't get to see everything there. We'll have to visit the other half the next time we're out in La Quinta.

Here are a few pictures from the Living Desert and after Kaitlyn's baptism.
I had work off on Monday so we took my mom on a hike up Mount Hollywood. Contrary to popular belief, Mount Hollywood is not the mountain with the 'Hollywood' sign on it- it's the next one over right above the Griffith Observatory. After hiking in summer weather- I swear it was 85 degress up there- we drove to Van Nuys to check out this Japanese garden that Jay and I have been trying to go to for months. They are only open weird hours, so we've just never been able to go. We didn't know anything about the garden, and while it was very beautiful it was a bit aromatic because the garden is part of a water reclamation project.
After leaving the Tillman Japanese Gardens we went to Santa Monica to walk along the Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. We went from 80 degree weather to 60 degree weather in a matter of a 15 minute drive. The clouds turned to fog and as it got later in the day, the fog started getting lower. The drive home was beautiful because it was foggy and there were Christmas lights lining the stores. It really felt like Christmas!
