Help Me, I'm Melting!

There's never a dull moment in the Godfrey home! Jay and I decided to make pizza for dinner on Tuesday. We use Jiffy pizza crust mix because we don't really have the time or patience to make pizza dough from scratch. On the instructions for the pizza crust it tells you to put the dough in a warm place to rise once you stir the water with the pizza crust mix. Well, our apartment was a little chilly, so I got the brilliant idea to put the plastic bowl on the stove because the oven was preheating and I thought the stove vent would be warm. Here is the result.
As you can see, the hot steam from the stove vent melted a nice hole right through the bowl. Luckily it cooked the dough so it didn't drip down the vent. I never cease to amaze myself at how clueless I can be.

My second attempt was much more successful, and I definitely learned my lesson. Too bad at 25 I still make silly mistakes like that. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to cook! :)

Jay Says: It was sad to lose that old bowl (I called him Mr. Greenstockings) We had so many good times and...Oh, the memories...but press forward we must!

Poor Mr. Greenstockings! I never met him, and now I never will. Happy trails!

At least I'm not the only one who has to deal with kitchen fatalities. :)

Wait! I know that bowl! It has served many yummy pasta salads. Oh, what a sad day indeed.

I'm sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace. (I still do silly things like that too and then wonder what I was thinking!)

Good thing you aren't alone in this! One time when we lived with Ray we put his yucky pans in the oven (he never really used it and we didn't want to see the fithy thing). Then one day, Ray decided to bake and cake and didn't look inside before he preheated the oven. Yeah, the plastic handle melted off of the skillet and burned into a crisp at the bottom. Good times.
