Thanksgiving

We had a low key Thanksgiving. Jay had to work Black Friday at 6 am, but we were just so glad it wasn't 6 pm on Thanksgiving like so many other stores in the mall. Sheesh!!

We started the day with a hike up Mt. Hollywood, which was Jack's suggestion. We weren't the only ones with that idea, but we got an early enough start that there was still parking at the Observatory where the trail head is.

We also planned for every scenario. We brought the Jeep stroller (which has been awesome for the super bumpy LA sidewalks and hikes in Griffith Park) which both kids could sit in tandem-style. I also brought the Beco carrier to carry Claire if she didn't want to ride or walk (and I could probably even carry Jack if I needed to). And we used all of it, so I'm glad we brought it!

It took us about an hour to get up the hill and an hour down, and the kids did pretty good, even though it was about 90 degrees! Jack and Claire met a group of young ladies who all worked together teaching music and Jack charmed them with his flirty ways and interest in where they were from, what they were doing that day, etc. I think he's going to be excellent at dating if he keeps up his good conversation skills for the next 11 years. He is very genuinely interested in people and their lives. I love that about him!

After getting home and showering, we ate an un-traditional Thanksgiving meal of oven baked chicken, but we kept the usual mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and rolls. We took snacks with us on our hike, and snacked when we got home so both kids were kind of hungry and actually sat down and ate with us, which never happens. It was so nice!! We had a very happy Thanksgiving!
