Where has time gone?

Did you think I had fallen off the face of the blogging world? Well, I'm back, and hopefully will post more than once every three months now. We've been busy adjusting to having two kids and spending as much time together as possible (which hasn't been much between Jay's job and his calling as Stake Young Men's president). But as of today, he is on paternity leave for 6 weeks and I am so excited!! His work schedule is so crazy and hasn't led to much quality time together since Claire has been born so we are taking a much needed vacation to Utah this week to visit family, and then spending as much time together looking for a new job when we get back, because let's be honest- we do not want him back at Bloomingdale's!

All of our holidays were low key this year. We spent Thanksgiving afternoon with our good friends, Holly and Chris, and their three girls (they had their third on October 26- and baby Olivia is adorable, as are all of their girls!). We ate delicious food and chatted and had a good day.

That night, I of course went black Friday shopping. I was super pregnant but still had fun shopping all night by myself. Jay had to work Friday but not until the afternoon (good for me cause I got to sleep in, bad for him cause no one was shopping in the afternoon).

Then the next day Jack and I hung out and that's when contractions started and ended with baby Claire the next morning. (she came two weeks early- and I was so happy about that!)

My mom drove out the day Claire was born and stayed with us til Friday, when Jay's mom, Brenda, had booked a flight to come stay with us so she could be with Jack while we went to the hospital. But instead of having to wait to meet Claire, Brenda got to spend her full two weeks getting to know Claire (although Claire pretty much slept 24/7 those two weeks). The morning after Brenda left, Claire decided to wake up and wanted to be held right as I was making breakfast and cried every time I put her down for an hour and a half. Ironic, right? Luckily we've only had 3 or 4 days like that, but it's pretty hard when Jack wants me to play and Claire wants me to bounce her to sleep. We're still figuring that out.

Christmas was low-key. Jay had Christmas Eve off also (yay!) so we went to the park and watched Christmas movies and ate our tradition hard shell tacos for dinner. Santa came that night and the next morning we skyped with Jay's family as we opened presents. We went over to visit Holly and Chris that night, which made our Christmas a little more special. That's when Jack fell in love with Whitney and Natalie's marble set. More to come on that later.

New Year's Eve was quiet and spent watching tv and feeding the baby (who just so happened to like sleeping all day and then being up from 11-1am. That lasted only a few days). Luckily Jack was asleep.  To be honest, the holidays seem to come and go too quickly and since Jay worked almost all of the days before and after, it didn't really feel much different from the rest of the year. But it was still nice to be together as a family and now we are looking forward to the extended family meeting Claire!
