Aunt Debbie

We were so excited to have Jay's younger sister Deb come visit us over Labor Day. We picked her up from the airport early Saturday, September 1, and headed straight to our favorite LA event of the year- the LA County Fair! The gates to the fair didn't open til 10 am, the parking gates at 9 am, and we got there at 8:30. Ha! Although I think it worked out better because instead of waiting in a line of cars to get off the freeway and park for an hour, we just waited in a short line for the parking for 30 min and were able to get our tickets and wait in line for the gates and got right in. I don't know exactly why we love the fair so much, but we look forward to it. This year we didn't stay quite as long since all of us were a little tired (Deb more than us since she got up before 4 to catch her flight). We checked out the animals, the bee exhibit, the knight/princess area with lots of sword fighting, the little pretend plant/harvest/sell/buy area for Jack which he loved just as much as last year. And of course the shopping places!

On Labor Day we headed to Santa Monica beach for a few hours. Jack loves playing in the sand and was so excited when Deb helped him make a sand turtle and jelly fish. Afterwards we headed to Bloomingdale's to visit Jay at work, have lunch, and hang out (and possibly find some awesome clearance deals on super expensive shoes. :).

Tuesday we took Deb to Disneyland for her first time. It was a pretty good day with smallish crowds, but I was sad that a few of the good rides were closed for repairs- like Indiana Jones-which had been open the day before for the holiday. But Jay and Deb were still able to go on all the big awesome rides and we made sure to take Deb on the iconic Disneyland rides- Dumbo, rockets, teacups, etc. Jay and Deb were even on Space Mountain when it broke down- something Jay's always wanted to experience. They had to walk out and got it all on video. We had a great time even if it has been hot recently (like the past three weeks. Enough already! Never again am I going to be pregnant during the summer.)

Wednesday we were sad to see Deb have to leave, but we were able to get some shopping done before her flight. We had so much fun with Debbie and were so glad she came to visit us!
