My mom broke her right leg on January 5, and had to have surgery the next day to put in 15 screws and a metal plate. She was in the hospital for a few days and then stayed with two of my sisters the next week, but she couldn't get around well enough to really go home if she were by herself, so Jack and I made a trip out to help Grandma Nancy feel better.
I picked up a dvd player for the car on Black Friday and there is no way I would've survived the drive without it. The first few hours were hard, I think mainly because Jack didn't like the movies he was watching and then he peed through his diaper and his seat was all wet. Once we hit Vegas, we did just fine.
Jay told Jack that the best way to help Grandma was to give her lots of hugs, so he was pretty good to give her hugs to help her feel better. He thought it was so funny to see my mom using her crutches and kept saying they were her "walkers". We brought out two big baseball bats to give Brock and Isaac, and Jack liked to pretend those were his walkers and followed Grandma around a few times with his own walkers, imitating her. He also like to climb up on her walker and push it all around the room.
We had a good visit with my mom, even if it wasn't the best situation. I wish we could've stayed longer, but life called and we missed Jay. Love you, Mom!
